Intraoral Camera Morgan Hill, CA
For many years, patients did not have the opportunity to actually see the inside of their mouths. Certainly, they could look in the mirror, but until recently, they could never see what the dentist with his or her special tools could see.
Today, things are very different, with the intraoral camera, you can actually see what the dentist sees. In fact, you can even take a “video tour” of your entire mouth.
The intraoral camera makes cavities and gum disease highly visible, which allows you to better understand your specific oral health concerns and why the doctor is recommending a precise course of treatment.
What is an intraoral camera?
The intraoral camera is a highly advanced piece of diagnostic equipment that is approximately the size and shape of a dental mirror. It has a built-in, high-intensity light source and serves as a tiny video camera that allows us to zoom in on one tooth and magnify it 25 times.
Intraoral camera images are displayed on a computer monitor or an iPad, so you are able to see problems such as worn or broken fillings, cracked teeth, plaque deposits, cavities next to fillings, and excessive wear. We can also print an image for you to take home with you.
The intraoral camera is one of several state-of-the-art and leading-edge tools that we use at Santa Teresa Dental to provide you the very best that dentistry has to offer as well as enable you to be an active partner in your dental treatment. With a clear understanding of your dental conditions, you’ll be able to make treatment decisions with confidence.
