How Dental Technology Benefits Our Patients

How Dental Technology Benefits Our Patients

At Santa Teresa Dental, we are committed to using the latest dental technology and innovations to deliver the highest quality care and the best possible patient experience. Our breakthrough technology helps facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of dental problems with exceptional accuracy, precision, and effectiveness while enhancing patient comfort. We invite you to visit our Morgan Hill practice to experience the difference.

Digital Dental X-Rays: A Safer and More Efficient Diagnostic Tool

Digital dental x-rays have taken diagnostic imaging to the next level. They provide high-resolution digital images of hidden problems we cannot see during regular oral exams, like early decay between the teeth, bone loss, abscesses, cysts, tumors, poor tooth and root positions, developmental concerns, and so much more.

Unlike traditional film x-rays, digital imaging uses electronic sensors to capture images we store electronically. We can instantly view and enlarge these images on a computer screen, zooming in to closely examine specific concerns. Digital dental x-rays allow us to make quick and more accurate diagnoses for better treatment outcomes. The cutting-edge technology reduces radiation exposure by up to 75% compared to traditional x-rays, making them safer for our valued patients.

Intraoral Camera: Real-Time High-Definition Visualization

The intraoral camera is an advanced diagnostic tool about the size and shape of a dental mirror. The miniature video camera-like device has a built-in, high-intensity light source, allowing us to visualize your teeth and oral structures with incredible clarity. It can zoom in on one tooth and magnify it 25 times!

One great benefit of intraoral cameras is that the images are displayed on a computer screen or iPad in real time. That way, we can point out potential problems like plaque deposits, cracked teeth, cavities next to fillings, worn or broken fillings, or excessive tooth wear. Visualizing your teeth and oral structures can help you make informed decisions about your dental treatments.

Intraoral Scanner: Comfortable Impressions, Precise Restorations

Intraoral scanners offer a comfortable and precise alternative to traditional impressions that some patients find messy and uncomfortable. They produce virtual, computer-generated replicas of the soft and hard tissues in the mouth using lasers and other optical scanning devices.

Intraoral scanners allow Dr. Huang to submit highly accurate and precise virtual models to a dental laboratory through a secured web portal rather than send traditional impressions or stone models through regular mail. The entire process is quicker, more accurate, and more comfortable for our patients.

Spectra® Caries Detector: Early Detection for Prompt Care

We are pleased to offer Spectra® Caries Detector to identify cavities at their earliest stages. The lightweight and portable device captures digital images of your teeth, pinpointing the exact location of any decayed tooth structure.

The Spectra® technology allows for clear visualization of areas of decay. That allows for quick intervention, preventing minor decay from advancing into large cavities that may cause pain and require more involved treatment down the road.

Laser Dentistry: Unmatched Comfort and Precision

We are pleased to offer state-of-the-art technology, including our 810nm AMD diode laser. Our dental laser allows us to perform many procedures without the need for anesthesia or stitches. Laser dentistry minimizes bleeding, reduces the risk of infection, enhances healing, and improves treatment outcomes.

At Santa Teresa Dental, we use dental lasers for relieving tooth sensitivity, treating hepatic lesions and ulcers, addressing periodontal (gum) inflammation at the microscopic level, and reshaping gum tissue and bone to expose healthy tooth structure. Laser dentistry has taken patient care and comfort to new levels.

Additional Technology: State-of-the-Art Care

  • Electronic Drug Interaction Check: Fast and reliable drug interaction analysis ensures your safety.
